Abstract
Aim: The aim of this study was to use immunohistochemical agents (Ki67 and α-SMA) to help in differentiating ADCC from PLGA.
Materials and Methods: The seven PLGA and four ADCC formalin fixed and paraffin embedded tissues which were found in the files of Oral Pathology of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital were accessioned and 2μm sectioned and processed using avidin-biotin immunoperoxidase methods for α-SMA and Ki67.
Results: The ADCC was positive to α-SMA while the PLGA was negative to it. Both the ADCC and the PLGA were positive to Ki67.
Conclusion: It was concluded that the α-SMA can be used to differentiate between ADCC and PLGA but the Ki67 cannot be used alone to differentiate between ADCC and PLGA.
