Publishing right is the right to publish your work. It is a type of copyright granted to publisher who first publishes previously unpublished work after that work's original copyright has expired. Publication right is mostly found in the law of European countries and has no direct correspondence in US copyright law. Not all countries originally had such a right. To publish original research work, Scient Open Access (SOA) must ensure that it has obtained all necessary rights.

Why Publishing Rights Exist?

In order to publish your work, publishing rights exist for Scient Open Access and to protect author’s work as well as for restricting or opening exposure of the work to viewers.

Scient Open Access Publishing Rights:

  • SOA has exclusive right to publish an article, and to grant rights to others, including for commercial purposes.
  • It has a right to provide the valuable work on its online platforms and media so the article can be exposed to larger audience/viewers even after publication.
  • The authority to enforce the rights in the article, on behalf of an author, against third parties, for example in the case of plagiarism or copyright infringement.
  • SOA allows authors from another country to publish their valuable work.
