BIOGRAPHY:

Aynur was born and educated in Turkey. She obtained her Doctorate from Department of Aquaculture of Fisheries Faculty at Ege University in 1995. She is presently Professor of Department of Aquaculture at Ege University in İzmir. She has been involved in aquaculture research and teaching for approximately 25 years. Her educational endeavors include teaching undergraduate and graduate college courses, making research in aquaculture laboratory and field. Her research focuses on integrated shellfish aquaculture, bivalve (oyster, clam, mussel) aquaculture including reproduction, biochemistry and ecophysiology. She is interested in echinoderm (sea urchin and sea cucumber) culture for integrated farming systems. She has published 53 refereed papers, 3 book chapters, more than 150 abstracts (or full paper) presented at scientific meetings She had a grant from China to study on “Integrated fish farming” in 1997 for 3 months. Then she studied on bivalve culture from larval stage to marketable size at five Ifremer stations in France in 1998 supported by French Embassy. Later on 2 bilateral agreements carried on shellfish aquaculture between Ifremer-France and Ege University-Turkey, and 2 international projects on bivalve culture. She has been in USA, NOAA, Milford laboratory in Connecticut in 2012 to study on bivalve filtration efficiency. She is membership of shellfish Research Association, European Aquaculture Society and Euroshell.
