BIOGRAPHY:

Evaggelia Liaskou is a senior post-doctoral research fellow at the Centre for Liver Research and NIHR Biomedical Research Unit at the University of Birmingham, UK. She graduated from the University of Thrace in Greece in 2006 with a Bachelors Degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics. While being an undergraduate student she moved from Greece to Liverpool for six months, to the Centre for Lung Cancer at the University of Liverpool, to carry out her diploma thesis as an ERASMUS student. After completion of her Bachelors Degree, she applied for and was awarded a prestigious Marie Curie Early Stage Training Fellowship in order to carry out her doctor of philosophy (PhD) at the Centre for Liver Research at the University of Birmingham under the supervision of Prof David Adams. As part of her PhD training, Evaggelia also worked for six months at the MediCity Laboratory, at the University of Turku in Finland under the supervision of Prof Sirpa Jalkanen. As a post-doctoral research fellow she has been an invited speaker at prestigious meetings, published review articles and editorials, she has attracted independent funding to pursue her own research ideas and has developed links with leading groups in UK and Norway. In 2014 she was awarded an EASL Sheila Sherlock short-term training fellowship which allowed her to carry out research at the Norwegian PSC Centre for three months. Her research interest lies in the field of autoimmune diseases and particularly the immunobiology of the liver disease primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC).
