BIOGRAPHY:

Dr. Giuseppe Scalabrino was born in Milan (Italy) on July 4, 1944. He studied at the School of Medicine of the University of Milan from 1962 to 1968. He received his M.D. degree magna cum laude in 1968, discussing an experimental thesis carried out at the Institute of General Pathology of that University. Since 1969, Dr. Scalabrino has held a number of academic positions on the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Milan. He was an Associate Professor of General Pathology between 1972 and 1985. During this time, he worked in a number of other capacities as well. In 1975-1976 he held a NATO fellowship, during which time he worked at the Institute of Biochemistry of the University of Helsinki (Finland). He was selected to Corresponding Membership in the American Association for Cancer Research in 1981. From 1986 until 2014, Dr. Scalabrino has been a full-time Professor of General Pathology at The Faculty of Medicine & Surgery of the University of Milan. Over the course of his distinguished career, Dr. Scalabrino has been involved in various professional conferences and was an invited speaker in different international Meetings, dealing first with Polyamines and Neoplastic Growth, and then with the various functions of vitamin B12 in mammalian cells. Among Dr. Scalabrino's numerous honors is the International Award "Roentgen" from Italian Accademia dei Lincei in Rome, which he received for his oncologicla research in 1983. From 1988 until 2004 he was elected Director of the Institute of General Pathology. From 2003 until 2006 he was elected President of the Committe for the Scientific Research of the University of Milan. He is a member of the Editorial Board of different International Journals.
